Fool the Eye: 5 Strategies for a Cleaner-Looking Home

Do you ever feel like you can never keep your home clean? What if I told you there are a few things you can do to make your home look clean most of the time? One significant tip is to declutter; when things are organized, everything else looks a lot better. Check out my five tips that you can apply in your home to make it look cleaner.

  1. Use a Robotic Vacuum or Vacuum with a Mop
When nobody is at home walking around, it is always best to send your robotic vacuum cleaner or mop out to do some work on flat flooring areas. You might be wondering how much it helps? It's better than nothing and it adds up, especially if you do it five days a week.

  2. Make Use of Containers
Choose different styles of containers that match your furniture. Make them a part of your decoration, while also hiding and storing some of your clutter away. You can categorize them when you sort and make them part of your staging accessories.

  3. Clear Out Your Kitchen Countertop
Have you heard of the rule of thumb that you should have no more than three items on your countertop? The same rule should apply to all countertops, including bathrooms, laundry folding tables, and office desktops. You can hide them in your cabinets, drawers, or if you have open shelves, store them in the same size and same brand containers, which can also be used as decoration.

  4. Make the Bed
My husband always thinks, "What's the point of making the bed when you'll be making a mess at night again?" I always tell him, "You get hungry again after you eat; does that mean you don't need to eat?" Making the bed is a good way to start your day right, so everyone should start that habit.

  5. Align Window Shades
Have you ever noticed that some homes feel disorganized or messy simply because the window blinds are crooked? Properly aligned window shades contribute to a neat and well-maintained appearance, enhancing the overall visual of the living space. Taking the time to ensure that window treatments are straight and uniform can make a significant difference in the cleanliness of a space.
