I sold high and bought low in the bay area, thanks to Helen and Marvine. If you want your story to be like mine, go with these wonderful people!

Well, this wasn’t our first real estate purchase. In fact, when I bought my condo the first time, Helen was the selling(the opposite) agent. And.. when COVID hit, and just like everyone moving out from small condo/APTs in SJ to single family homes outside, I decided to sell my condo. Then the first person came to my mind was Helen. I was thinking.. well, I bought at a crazy price from her, I wonder if she can sell this again at a crazy price. Of course, we weren’t expecting a crazy sell, because we knew the condos are going cold, and we were just hoping to minimize the gap. Then I did the research in my best ability on the properties Helen sold, reviewed the reviews (as you are doing right now), then decided OK, let’s go with her. BOOM.

Well, Helen and Marvine made it happen. We sold at 3% higher than what we expected to sell. And also at the lightening speed compared to the other properties that were on market. I think 9 days from listing to sale? Until this happened, they gave us data presentations, scheduled timelines, calls & meetings, and let us know the situations. We called 9am in the morning, we Zoom-called 9pm at night (plus emails and texts), things were moving fast, and they were acting fast. And they are constantly reading the market.

If I ever have to suggest 2 skills your selling real estate agents must have, in my opinion, they would be 1) ability to suggest the right sell price: too high, you won’t get bid, too low, a chance you won’t satisfy with bids you get, just right price in the market will gain the traction and competitions 2) ability to furnish your home and make it desirable. And I would rate both skills really high for Helen.

On buying side, houses were being sold crazy.. and we weren’t finding any homes that we can fit in our budget and the needs. We are just couple of worker class ants, and didn’t have too much in the cash stack unlike other bidders. But you know what, they found a gem house that weren’t getting much attention(an information that we would never have), and suggested to take a chance on it, and we got it 6% lower than the listing price. And it’s been 3 months in this home and we are happy.

In closing remarks.. I don’t really write reviews, or openly advocate anyone online. But if anyone else is looking for a real estate agent, I would be happy to recommend them and talk about them first hand!
